This following portfolio presents an analysis of last-mile commuting in London in 2042, exploring trends and opportunities for improvement. London was chosen as the focus of the study due to its government's commitment to improving inner-city transportation and its socially-driven, fast-paced work culture that values innovation and optimised commutes. The study identifies the lack of transportation modes as a significant pain point and proposes Nexus, an intelligent and autonomous transportation system designed to interconnect suburban neighbourhoods and revolutionise last-mile commuting. The proposed system aims to provide an optimised transportation network that is inclusive to all remote commuters. With a heavy focus on the system in relation to the proposed user group, the report draws upon a range of information gathered during the first phase of the project, including analysis of various work-related scenarios and user experiences to identify opportunities for improvement. The later stages of the report detail key features and characteristics of Nexus, which were carefully selected based on technical requirements found during the research phase, and validated using a user feedback loop and technical expert consultation. Finally, the report evaluates Nexus's impact on the future of commuting and work, considering practicality and feasibility from a business and scenario-based perspective, as well as the novelty of the system when compared to the world’s leading future transportation concepts.
